Demonstration Model for Utility Oils

The purpose of this model was to demonstrate this company’s fleet of new, purpose-built trailers supplying mobile oil related services to industry. We were able to buy “off the shelf” DAF tractors and brand them with the company’s livery but the trailers had to be built from scratch to incorporate a simplified representation of the client’s oil processing equipment. The roofs of the trailers look as though they have been left off but they are actually made from clear 0.5mm acrylic to allow views into the interior whilst protecting the internal components. The transformer installation was also made from scratch, at a slightly simplified level.

White Massing Model – Scale 1:50

1:50 is an unusually large scale for a massing model, but it was necessary for this project because the client needed the model to give clear views into a cramped internal courtyard. He also needed to be able to reach in to remove some of the components to allow views into the internal stair arrangement. The purpose of the model was to illustrate how a proposed new glazed entrance and bridge link worked with the existing levels and elevations of the courtyard.

Our Latest Projects | Modelmakers | Military Equipment Models – 1:10 Scale

Three industrial models for an event in Rio.

A producer of specialized equipment for deploying military boats and vehicles via parachute into hard to reach areas, the client for this project asked us to create models of three of their core products for an event in Rio De Janeiro. At 1:20 scale the models were small enough to be easily transportable (the biggest was less than 500mm long) but still needed to show a high level of detail to demonstrate the characteristics of the product. We supplied all three models with custom-made Perspex covers and sturdy, waterproof travel cases with tailored foam interiors.

Our Latest Projects | Modelmakers | Industrial Landscape Model – varying scales

Stylized model showing multiple industries.

The brief for this project was to create a physical model of an existing CGI created landscape showing all the various industrial sectors the company worked in. The only information they were able to give us was a set of still-frame images of the landscape so we had to create our own CAD from scratch before we could start constructing the model. The muted greys and greens are an exact copy of the CGI graphic but we feel they work very well for this stylized industrial landscape. As you can see from the photo above, we also incorporated LED lighting. The system allowed 16 zones to be individually controlled from the client’s laptop.
