Fully interactive model for Notting Hill Sales.

One of our existing clients recommended our services to Notting Hill Sales which lead to us producing this fully interactive sales model for one of their major developments in London. The interactive element allows touch-screen controlled illumination of individual apartments with floor plans visible on screen and various filter options such as number of beds, aspect, availability, etc. Due to limited space in the marketing suite, we had to use a smaller than usual scale for this type of model which made it much more tricky to build in the wiring and individual apartment lights. The client asked us to create a “ghosted” but recognisable representation of an existing on-site building so our solution was to model it in clear acrylic, but still replicating a lot of the building’s architectural features – you should be able to pick this up in the photos.

Our Latest Projects | Modelmakers | Bridge Model – Scale 1:12 - October 2009

Bridge Model – Scale 1:12

The object of this model was to illustrate the advantages of the client’s product, a quick to install, combined kerbstone/drainage system specially designed for bridge constructions. The model had to be made to this large scale (it’s 2.5m long) so that the functionality of the design could be instantly understood by the viewer. Click on the Enlarge Image feature and judge for yourself whether it does the job. The display was actually commissioned for use at a trade exhibition in Saudi Arabia. This meant we had to design it so it could be flat-packed into a purpose-built flight case and still be easily assembled by the client on site. We also steered the client towards some very nice, off-the-shelf 1:12 scale cars which he bought himself and placed on the model to bring it to life.

After being impressed by the variety and quality of projects on our website, British Sugar came directly to us to design and build this interactive model demonstrating the sophisticated, sustainable manufacturing processes at their main sugar production facility at Wissington. The model design was based on a stylized 2D visual depicting the complex interrelated systems, beneficial by-products and energy efficiency of what is Britain’s biggest sugar beet processing plant. We had to develop this 2D layout into an informative three dimensional display model complete with directional moving lights, illuminated images, and a video presentation with on-screen interface. As you can see from the pictures, the model also had to be eye-catching and attractive with a high quality finish throughout. The client was really pleased with the finished model and informed us they wanted to work with us again in the near future – a sweet result all round!

Mixed Residential Development – Scale 1:250

We photographed this model in the low angled sun of a late winter’s afternoon which gives it an interesting mellow glow. It could also glow in a completely different way because each block could be individually illuminated at the touch of a button. The development featured a mixture of refurbished existing structures and proposed new buildings

Our Latest Projects | Modelmakers | Trident Missile – Scale non-specific - August 2009

Trident Missile – Scale non-specific

At 2 metres tall this model of a Trident Missile is certainly not life-size and we were unable to establish the exact dimensions of the real thing, hence the “Scale non-specific” comment above. Made from a combination of fibreglass and plastics with a painted finish, the model was designed for use as an eye-catching display at exhibitions in the UK and abroad. Because it had to travel we supplied it with a purpose-built protective flight case.
