Second Industrial Model for ChickMaster UK.

As with the previous model featured in our Latest Projects section this is another example where a company has come back to us for a second model after being really pleased with the first project we completed for them. This is also a similar type of industrial model but it’s at a smaller scale (1:20 rather than 1:8) and you’ll notice that the detail is slightly more simplified. This looks ok at the smaller scale and was sufficient for the client’s requirements; he didn’t need to show every nut and bolt (although we could have done if he’d needed it).

“Drivetrain” for wind turbine – Scale 1:20

A “Drivetrain”, in case you were wondering, is the component that harnesses the power from the revolving blades of a wind turbine – it’s the machinery the blades are connected to at the top of the tower, normally hidden under a cowling. This particular model was commissioned for use as an eye catching display at trade shows and exhibitions. It was designed to illustrate the flexible, modular nature of the client’s product which could be easily adapted for different types of wind turbine. Taking the real thing along wasn’t really an option due to its massive size and weight. If you click on the images to enlarge them, you’ll see the outline of a standing figure which gives a sense of the machine’s real life dimensions. At 1:20 scale we were able to show a plenty of realistic detail, including individual nuts and bolts and the huge single disc brake with four callipers on the back face of the model.

Detailed Internal Layout for Luxury Health Spa – Scale 1:100

Occasionally (not as often as we’d like) we get a real challenge in terms of authentic detailing of a model. This particular project was just such a case, its purpose being to show the internal layout and detailed finishes of a luxurious new health spa. The client wanted all the proposed internal fixtures and fittings accurately reproduced, from massage beds and gym equipment right down to floor colours and tile patterns. One of the close-up images features the finely detailed fins of the building’s sophisticated solar shading system.

Our Latest Projects | Modelmakers | 6U Satellite Model – Life-size

Another high quality satellite model for the British space industry.

Completed last month, we’ve made several variations of this life-size CubeSat model for a number of different clients and we’re currently in mid-production of a further satellite model for yet another client (who saw this model and liked it). Designed for easier shipping, this model comes as four separate main components – acrylic base; tubular steel mount; main body; solar array panels – that can be easily slotted together on site. Even the aerials slot into place once the main model is assembled.

Our Latest Projects | Modelmakers | West Cardinal Buoy Model – 1:4 scale

2.2 metre high model of navigation buoy.

A company that produces and maintains navigation buoys around Britain’s coastlines asked us to produce this quarter scale model of one of their standard buoys for use at exhibition events. At 2.2m tall it had to be made in sections that could be packed in flight cases for shipping but that could be easily assembled on site. If you click on the main photo above you can see the full extent of the model. To add some extra visual interest we came up with the idea of mounting it on a clear Perspex tube to give the impression that it was floating.
